Next to other technologies, social networks can look trivial. Feeds, memes, “content,” the viral app du jour. But we’re in the middle of a historic event: the wiring of all of humanity into one connected whole, and we only get one shot at laying out the foundation.
We’ve been through something like this once before. When people first moved into cities en masse, it took decades to learn to live with our newfound proximity, and to build the infrastructure and social norms we now rely on to coexist.
The online tools we use to talk and share, and the digital spaces where we spend our time, are now increasingly where culture gets made, knowledge gets generated, and relationships get built. And we’re still in the early days of figuring it all out.
Getting to participate in the buildout is a privilege, and the focus of my work. I started my career at Facebook, then co-founded Cocoon and joined Substack through its acquisition in 2021, where I led product, design, and data. As of 2026, I’m exploring a new idea with a small and talented team.
